I last played oboe nearly 25 years ago, before the internet was even really a thing. A month or so back, I spontaneously decided that relearning to play would be a fun, challenging activity during COVID, plus hey, I could probably do it for free with YouTube! I was right about the first part, and entirely wrong about the second. I find these lessons are worth every penny, though. I have thoroughly appreciated the consistency and thoughtful progression of the videos and activities. Jonathan makes me want to practice more (and also maybe buy a higher quality instrument) so that our duets don't sound like a beautiful oboe and a squawking duck. I try and take my time with each of the lessons so that any increases in technical ability don't outpace improved lung capacity/endurance. I am absolutely certain I will sign up for the Intermediate Oboe course once I feel I have mastered this one.
