I last played oboe nearly 25 years ago, before the internet was even really a thing. A month or so back, I spontaneously decided that relearning to play would be a fun, challenging activity during COVID, plus hey, I could probably do it for free with YouTube! I was right about the first part, and entirely wrong about the second. I find these lessons are worth every penny, though. I have thoroughly appreciated the consistency and thoughtful progression of the videos and activities. Jonathan makes me want to practice more (and also maybe buy a higher quality instrument) so that our duets don't sound like a beautiful oboe and a squawking duck. I try and take my time with each of the lessons so that any increases in technical ability don't outpace improved lung capacity/endurance. I am absolutely certain I will sign up for the Intermediate Oboe course once I feel I have mastered this one.

My daughter needed a good online Oboe teacher. Covid had hit, She just started band, and she needed to learn everything from the beginning. John was amazing explaining everything from the start, recap of other lessons were great to help her review.
We are still in the middle of the lessons, but my daughter can read music and play the notes she wants to. Highly recommend Music Professor.
