Diana Yusupov

Diana Yusupov began studying cello at the age of eight whilst living in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Her family migrated to Australia in 2003, where she continued studying cello with her father Renat Yusupov and later a renowned cellist and teacher Markus Stocker. Diana graduated with a Bachelors of Music and Advanced Performance degree from Queensland Conservatorium of Music, before pursuing a further degree in law and education. Diana relocated to Tucson Arizona in 2016 to begin her Masters of Music studies at University of Arizona in the studio of Dr Theodore Buchholz. Upon graduating with her Masters, Diana stayed on to complete her Doctorate of Musical Arts specializing in cello performance and minoring in ethnomusicology. Diana’s research focused on the Russian and Uzbek music influences found in the cello repertoire of Muhammad Otajonov. Currently Diana is teaching a strings orchestra program at BASIS Chandler and enjoys playing chamber music with her piano trio – the Oracle.
